President Thomas Jefferson wrote America's Declaration of Independence, but he also was an anthropologist, an architect, an astronomer, a botanist, a diplomat, a farmer, an inventor, a lawyer, a mathematician, and a musician. He spoke French, Greek, Italian, Latin, and Spanish. He founded the University of Virginia and today's Democratic Party. During his eight years in office, he doubled the country's size. Public schools, the denominations of American coins, and many of the liberties citizens of the United States take for granted are, in one way or another, the work of the man who was born on April 13, 1743, in a simple four-room house in Shadwell, Virginia.

As some others have commented, the book is relatively brief. and yet I felt that there was a great deal of Jefferson, the man, displayed in the writing of this book. This is not a book written for scholars intent on learning all the nuances of Jefferson's education, his involvement in the writing of the Declaration of Independence, the formation of a government, his presidency, etc. What it does present is the man's unselfishness to other people and to the nation that in the end left him bankrupt. It presents a man who suffered personal tragedies in the loss of his wife and many children due to various health issues. It also presents a man with tremendous skill in art, architecture, music and other skills that for a man of his time is hard to imagine.Product details

Thomas Jefferson (Audible Audio Edition) Henry Moscow Pete Simonelli a Division of Recorded Books HighBridge Books Reviews
Even though I have read other books on Thomas Jefferson, this book brought out more details of his life that were not known to me. For someone interested in his life and character this is a good read.
Being a lover of history and having a trip planned for a trip to Monticello, I am thrilled to have read this biography of President Jefferson
Faster paced but an Interesting written account of history and of course Thomas Jefferson. Things I did not learn in history class which for me was worth the read and book made the man finally feel real.
Learned the story of how the Supreme Court gained the precedent to rule on laws, a by-product in a written decision favoring Jefferson. Will never forget the two mockingbird pets who lived in the White House and hopped up the steps when Thomas climbed the stairs for a nap. And how the President could actually sleep while the mockingbird sang while perching on his shoulder I'll never understand.
The book isn't as entertaining as a novel but it's an interesting and informative read.
An excellent condensed biography of one of the founding fathers of the United States. There is extensive hyper linking to Wikipedia entries for people and events mentioned so that the reader can get a better understanding of the man and his contributions to his country. Although I have read other articles on this man, there were new issues that I had never heard of.
This story is well told, providing for me, an intriguing glimpse of Jefferson. Well written and beautifully crafted. Where were you when I struggled through American history in high school!
It was a shock to see such striking similarities with current politics.
...of the life of Thomas Jefferson, spanning his lifetime from birth to death. Moscow captures Jefferson's strong personality and soft heart, as well as the staunch determination of one of America's founders and early presidents. Easy to follow and written in a manner that is enjoyable, I highly recommend it for young students of history and all voters who desire to understand the thoughts and intent of our founders and the "spirit of law" behind our Constitution.
